Date/Time Impacted

08/01/22 at 17:31 to 17:35 UTC

Services Impacted

Voice API

Summary

On August 1st, a crash of SBC software occurred due to a software bug which caused a server restart. This prevented outbound calling for the API for a 4-minute period while the server restarted, at which point the calls resumed processing as expected.

Root Cause

A software bug in the SBC software caused a server to restart.

Restoration Actions

The SBC software is in the process of being phased out due to its unsupported hardware and software with known bugs. We are in the process of eliminating issues resulting from having unsupported network elements in call flows. This project was already underway but we have accelerated the migration and will be completed this week.

Next Steps

We are continuing to analyze the available logs to identify patterns resulting from this issue.
