Postmortem

What happened

Between 2023-01-18 04:20UTC customers sending outbound SMS messages to US networks experienced rejections.
We implemented a fix at 06:30UTC and subsequent messages were getting delivered.

Causes

A rejection issue had occurred due to a routing configuration. The configuration had affected US networks and subsequently rejected all outbound messages.
The issue was fixed by adjusting the routing and having all systems and routes back to normal.

Preventive Actions

Update our internal monitoring alerts and provide adequate communication to customers involving issues that may arise or cause any problems.

All services have been back to normal.

Please note that you might have experienced rejections for some of the outbound messages sending to the US between 0420UTC and 0630UTC today (18 Jan 2023).

This rejection issue has been fixed and we are motoring closely at the moment.
